Back From Peru

I just spent the past nine days in Peru, visiting Biz before she wraps up her study abroad adventure in Lima.  It was a family road trip of epic proportions - at no time was someone not suffering from MBHPD (My Body Hates Peru Disease) or, as my brother dubbed it, "Peroopypants," but we made it through.

We spent our first day or so in Lima before heading out to Cusco, our base in the Sacred Valley, which is spectacular.  We visited a few sites there (salt mines, Ollantaytambo ruins, markets selling sweaters of "genuine" alpaca) and eventually made our way to Machu Picchu.  The train ride alone was worth the trek, with an awe-inspiring landscape and pan flute covers of "Killing Me Softly" wafting through the car.

Machu Picchu, as you might have guessed, was amazing.

We went up to the ruins at sunrise and had them largely to ourselves.

Can you tell I'm still into Photoshop experiments?  I'll post real pictures featuring people I know later.  For now, it's time to catch up on 18GB worth of emails.
